Chapter Eleven
Bella’s POV
I gave a contented sigh over my cup of hot chocolate as I
scanned the trees for my wolves. It had been three weeks, three glorious,
amazing, spectacular weeks since I’d lost my virginity to Sam and Jake. Well,
technically Sam, but Jake hadn’t been too far behind.
I smiled into the warm cocoa as images of the Monday
after that weekend flooded my mind.
Jake was leaning
against my truck when school let out, a lazy grin on his face. I quickly waved
goodbye to Angela and took off towards him, full speed ahead.
“Mmm, I’ve missed
you,” Jake hummed, scooping me into his arms.
“I missed you,
too,” I laughed as he spun me around.
“How are you?” Jake
asked, setting me back on my feet.
“Fantastic,” I
smiled.
“Good, cause I’m
here to take you home,” Jake grinned, leaning down to nip at my neck. “And
thoroughly consume you.”
“Really? And if I
have a problem with this plan of yours?” I teased.
“Too bad,” Jake
growled, slinging me over his shoulder.
“JACOB!” I
squealed, laughing as I pounded his back.
“Isabella!” Jake
mocked.
“Do I look like a
sack of potatoes to you?” I asked as he dropped me into the passenger seat.
“Now, honey, you
know if you were a sack of potatoes you would’ve gone in the back,” Jake
winked.
“You better watch
yourself, Jacob Black. Just because I am your imprint doesn’t mean I have to
let you take certain liberties with my body,” I scolded him.
“My, my. Reading classic
literature again, are we?” Jake asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Well, it is what
we’re studying in English,” I shrugged.
“My little
romantic,” Jake murmured, pulling me under his arm and placing a kiss to my
forehead.
“Hmm. If only some
of it rubbed off on you and Sam,” I sighed exasperatedly.
“You like us rough
around the edges,” Jake insisted, giving me a know-it-all look.
“A little romance
wouldn’t be too much to ask though, would it?” I asked, giving him a small
pout.
“No, I guess not,”
Jake agreed, taking me seriously.
And, while I was
being a little serious, I was mostly just teasing him. I loved my wolves, just
the way they were, even if I hadn’t told Jake that just yet. By then, we had
pulled into my driveway and Jake was cutting off the engine. I gave him a
suspicious look when I noticed Charlie’s cruiser wasn’t around.
“Charlie was
supposed to have the early morning shift today,” I said.
“I may have
convinced Dad to call him over to discuss some minor imprint details,” Jake
shrugged casually.
“Uh-huh,” I nodded.
“And I may have
added in some beer and football to sweeten the deal,” Jake admitted, not
meeting my eyes.
“Really, now. And
what exactly are you hoping to accomplish with getting me all alone in my
house?” I asked, leading him inside.
“Well, I was hoping
to take you upstairs,” Jake started, backing me into the wall.
My arms
automatically wrapped around his waist, pulling him in closer. Heat spread
through my body as I pressed up against him.
“Lock the door,”
Jake continued, leaning down to give my lips a quick nip.
I opened my eyes,
not having noticed they were closed and saw his trademark grin in place. My
heart was pounding in my chest, eager for his next words.
“And do a little
homework,” Jake finished, backing away quickly.
I stared at him
blankly, trying to get my mind to catch up. My body was heavy with hunger for
his and I found it difficult to focus on why he wasn’t still pressed up against
me.
“Bells?” Jake
called, choking on a laugh.
I blinked, finally
registering his previous words.
“You jerk!” I
cried, gaping up at him.
“Hey, now. I had no
idea you were so against homework,” Jake chuckled.
“You tricked me!
Ugh, you’re horrible! You’ll be lucky if I even let you into my room, let alone
lock the door behind you,” I glared.
“Oh, you’ll let me
up there. Unless you want me to take you on the couch. Or on the kitchen
counter. That’ll give your neighbors quite the show, don’t you think?” Jake
warned, stalking towards me again.
I had to lean
against the wall at the visuals assaulting my mind at his words. I could
picture me, bent over the couch, Jake behind me, pounding away. Or me sitting
on the kitchen counter, my legs wrapped around his waist as we made the dishes
rattle behind us.
In an instant, Jake
was pressed against me, his mouth dominating mine in a violent kiss. I clung to
him as he lifted me in his arms, pressing me harder against the wall. His hands
clutched at my bottom, holding me against his erection as he moved against me.
“Or, maybe I’ll
just fuck you against the wall,” Jake panted, breaking the kiss.
“Please,” I
whimpered, throwing my head back.
“Fuck, Bells,” Jake
groaned, hands fumbling with my jeans.
I dropped my feet
to the floor and quickly moved to help him. They got caught on my hiking boots
and he bent to yank them off my feet, practically tearing the laces. My jeans
were flung into the living room and my panties followed close behind.
“Take off your
shirt,” Jake growled, his hands going to his jeans.
I did as he said,
quick as possible, aching to feel him inside of me. As soon as my shirt was
over my head, his mouth fastened onto one of my breasts as he lifted me again.
He was thrusting against me, sliding through my slick folds and I moved with
him, wanting him so much closer.
“C-Condom?” I asked
as he rubbed my clit and sucked hard on my breast.
“Shit,” Jake
cursed, pulling away from me briefly.
I watched him grab
his jeans and search the pockets. Finally, he pulled out the plastic wrapped
package, tearing it open with his teeth. I swallowed thickly as he slid the condom
onto his thick cock, knowing it would be filling me in a matter of moments.
“Ready, baby?” Jake
asked, lifting me against the wall again.
“Fuck, yes,” I moaned,
pulling his mouth to mine.
With a muffled
curse, Jake impaled me on his cock, making me scream out at the swift invasion.
He held still for a moment, breathing heavily as I trembled against him.
“Shit, you’re so
fucking tight,” Jake groaned, starting to move.
“Jake!” I cried as
he pounded me into the wall.
“That’s it, baby. I
love hearing my name on your lips while I’m fucking you,” Jake growled,
thrusting harder.
“JAKE!” I shouted,
my fingers pulling his hair.
“Shit!” Jake
roared, his thumb working at my clit.
I screamed as my
climax overcame me, pulling Jake over the edge with me. I was still trembling
slightly as Jake pulled out, slowly lowering me to the floor.
“You are so fucking
perfect,” Jake panted, kissing my forehead.
“You have a potty
mouth,” I murmured, eyes closed.
“Like you’re one to
talk, Miss Swan,” Jake chuckled.
“Mmm. I said one
bad word,” I pointed out.
“One bad word is
all it takes,” Jake argued.
“What if I say some
really nice words to make up for it?” I bargained sleepily.
“I might let you
off the hook,” Jake grinned.
“I love you,” I
whispered, looking up at him.
Jake’s grin turned
tender as he leaned down to place a soft kiss to my lips. I sighed as he pulled
away, his thumb lightly stroking my cheek bone.
“I love you, too,
honey.”
My thoughts were interrupted as I heard the howl coming
from a short distance away. Instantly, I knew I was Sam letting me know he was
close. It hadn’t taken any time at all for me to learn the difference in the
sounds of my wolves.
Moving towards the door, I stepped outside, hot chocolate
in hand. As I leaned against the porch railing, my wolves walked out of the
forest, chests bare. I smiled into my cup as I took a sip, watching them move
towards me.
“Hello, beautiful,” Sam greeted, his arms going around my
waist as he kiss me gently.
“Hello,” I smiled up at him.
He moved aside and let Jake pull me into his arms.
“Hey, Bells,” Jake grinned, bending down to give my mouth
a quick invasion.
“Hey,” I breathed as he pulled away.
“What are you doing outside on the porch?” Sam asked,
frowning slightly.
“I heard you calling and figured I’d come greet you. Hot
chocolate?” I offered, leading them inside.
“No thanks,” my wolves answered.
“Suit yourselves. It’s yummy,” I grinned, pouring myself
another cup.
“Charlie at the station tonight?” Jake asked, taking his
usual seat.
“Actually, he’s with Billy and Harry, getting ready for
the bonfire,” I told them.
“Really? I guess that’s a good thing. Our people need to
realize you pale faces really aren’t all that bad,” Jake teased, throwing me a
wink.
“Shut it, dog,” I glared, taking my seat between them.
“Do you have your bag packed?” Sam asked, changing the
subject.
“It’s sitting in the living room,” I nodded.
“Good. I hate the weekdays now,” Sam grumbled, fingers
tapping against the table.
“I hear you, man. I love having this one so close at
hand,” Jake agreed, jerking his thumb in my direction.
“Hey! I’m right here, you know. I can hear you,” I
snapped, slapping at his arm.
“Don’t pay him any mind, sweetheart. He’s going through
some kind of PMS,” Sam assured me, pulling me closer to him.
“Am not! Does it look like I have a vagina?” Jake
growled.
“I know for a fact he does not,” I told Sam.
“Tell him, honey,” Jake cheered.
“Although, men do go through something very similar to
PMS every month, so Sam could be right,” I shrugged.
“Tell him, sweetheart,” Sam grinned.
“Hey!” Jake protested.
“Oh, hush, both of you. I’m going through the real deal
right now, so neither one of you gets to talk,” I threatened mockingly.
“Wait, does that mean so sex this weekend?” Jake asked,
looking disappointed.
“Jesus, Black! Could you be any more of an asshole?” Sam
glared.
“Like you aren’t thinking it,” Jake accused.
“Doesn’t mean I’m going to say anything. We really need
to work on that filter of yours,” Sam insisted.
“Guys, stop. No, Jake, it does not mean we can’t have sex
this weekend, although I’m not too sure I like that the only reason you want me
around is for sex, so I might just decide that we not have sex this weekend,” I
frowned.
“Honey, you know I love you. And if you decide we don’t
have sex this weekend, I’ll still be thrilled just to have you beside me while
I sleep,” Jake told me honestly.
My heart gave a little flip at that and he was instantly
forgiven for his callous speech.
“You are so lucky I actually like you,” I informed him,
sipping my hot chocolate.
“Does that mean I’m forgiven?” Jake asked, pouting
slightly.
“Yes, you’re forgiven, you over-grown puppy,” I smiled,
rolling my eyes at his puppy-dog pout.
“Love you,” Jake murmured, leaning over to give me a
tender kiss.
“Love you, too,” I sighed when he pulled away.
“What about me? Do you still love me?” Sam asked.
I smiled as I looked up at him, his arm still around my
shoulders.
“Of course I love you, but you’re not as needy as Jake is
about it,” I teased, arching back to offer my lips.
“Mmm, it’s still nice to be reminded occasionally,” Sam
hummed contently, licking at my lips.
“We should definitely get out of here if we plan on
making it to the bonfire on time,” Jake insisted tightly.
“What’s the matter, Jake?” I asked innocently.
“Minx,” Jake accused.
I laughed, knowing exactly what was wrong with him. It
never ceased to amaze me at what got my wolves going. I had recently discovered
that they loved watching the other kiss, touch, make-love to, and generally
pleasure me. Last Saturday, they had been constantly switching me between them,
each one finding watching the other with me to be insanely arousing.
Of course, if anyone suggested that they had any kind of
sexual feelings for each other, they wouldn’t hesitate to introduce that person
to their fists. My wolves did not like the idea of being intimate with each
other if I wasn’t acting as a buffer. They just thought there was something
sexy as hell about watching each other make me hot and bothered.
I had acquainted it to getting to watch live porn from
the comforts of our bedroom. Both of them had argued against it, but I knew
that’s why they got so aroused when it happened and it’s not like I was
complaining.
“Ready?” Sam asked, wrapping his arms around my waist and
kissing my neck.
“Mmm, yes,” I murmured, tilting my neck to give him more
room.
“Maybe we should skip the bonfire,” Sam suggested, one
hand going under my shirt to cup my breast while the other slipped inside my
jeans.
I gasped and pushed against him when his fingers found my
clit. His cock was pressed against my ass and I felt moisture flood my panties
as he moved me against him.
“Shit, Sam. If you start that here, the Chief’ll catch
us,” Jake warned, though his voice was slightly off.
“You’re right,” Sam sighed heavily, removing his fingers
from my jeans.
I whimpered at the loss, but knew Jake was right. If we
got started, we wouldn’t stop until Charlie walked in on us and I liked my
wolves alive and bullet free.
“Later,” Sam promised, giving my neck one last love-bite.
I looked over at Jake to see him leaning against the
table, jeans tighter than they should be.
An evil idea popped into my head as Sam went to get my
bag from the living room. There was no way I wanted my dad to see both my
wolves like this and I knew they felt the same. The only thing was, they would
probably be thinking awful thoughts to get their erections to fade. I had a
much more pleasurable idea in mind.
“Let’s go,” Sam called from the door.
Jake came over and grabbed my hand, bringing it to his
lips as he walked me out to my truck.
“You are just too irresistible for your own good,” Jake
accused.
“You know you like it,” I winked, sliding into the middle
seat.
“Too much. That’s the problem,” Jake grumbled.
“I think it can also be the solution,” I murmured,
leaning over to bite his ear.
“Bells, please,” Jake groaned as Sam started the truck.
“Let me do this for you both,” I whispered, my hand going
to his jeans.
He didn’t protest as I unbuttoned and unzipped them,
releasing his cock. I leaned down to place a quick kiss on the head before
turning and undoing Sam’s jeans as well.
“Bella, what are you doing?” Sam asked, hands tightening
on the steering wheel.
“Just keep driving, Sam,” I ordered, my hand already
stroking his cock.
I looked over at Jake to see him palming his own erection
and I slapped his hand away.
“That’s my job and you’re doing it wrong,” I glared.
“By all means,” Jake grinned, his jaw a little tighter
than usual.
I gave him a sly look before lowering my mouth to his
cock.
“Jesus!” Jake cried, not expecting me to give him
roadhead.
My other hand was still busy pumping Sam’s cock behind me
as I took Jake in as far as I could. His fingers tangled in my hair as I bobbed
up and down, raking my teeth against the underside gently, like he’d taught me.
I used my free hand to lightly trail my nails across his balls before giving
them a nice squeeze.
“Fuck,” Jake groaned, starting to thrust into my mouth.
I knew we had to
be getting close to the Fork boarder, so I sucked him harder, moaning around
his thick cock. He yanked at my hair as I gave his balls another squeeze. He
gave a hoarse yell as he came in my mouth. I swallowed as much as I could,
haven gotten better over the past few weeks.
As soon as he was done, I switched, quickly taking Sam in
my mouth.
“Oh, shit, baby. Don’t stop,” Sam encouraged, on hand
cradling the back of my neck.
Sam liked me to be a little bit rougher when I gave him
blowjobs and I was free to use my teeth a little more. As I nipped at the vein
on the underside of his cock, he pulled on my hair sharply, growling his
impatience. I smiled as I took him back in my mouth, taking him as far as I
could before tightening my teeth around him.
“Oh, fuck, yes!” Sam shouted, cumming instantly.
When he finished, I sat up and looked around at where we
were, pleased to see we were almost to the bonfire.
“That was the sexiest fucking thing ever,” Jake said,
having caught his breath.
“Fuck, yes,” Sam agreed, still panting slightly.
“Glad you enjoyed it,” I grinned, pleased with myself.
“You are so perfect,” Sam murmured, stroking my thigh.
I smiled wider, loving the feeling of having done a good
job with pleasing my wolves. They always complimented me afterwards, changing
from dominating wolves to my sweet, tender men.
I blinked in surprise to find us at the bonfire and Jake
and Sam sliding out of the truck. Jake reached back inside for my hand and I
went with him, looping our arms together. I grabbed hold of Sam as we walked
around the truck.
“Looks like the party’s already started,” I noticed.
“I’m not surprised. I had to drive slower thanks to your
performance,” Sam mock scolded.
“Are you saying it wasn’t worth it?” I asked, giving him
a small pout.
“Oh, it was definitely worth it,” Sam assured me, leaning
down to tug my bottom lip with his teeth.
“Stop it before we all get going again,” Jake pleaded,
jerking me towards him.
“Hmph! Someone’s in a grumpy mood,” I huffed.
“Sorry, honey. Something just doesn’t feel right,” Jake
frowned.
“What is it?” Sam asked, instantly going on the alert.
“I’m not sure. I just have a funny feeling on the back of
my neck,” Jake told him.
“Should we go?” I asked, concerned.
“No, we’ve already be spotted,” Sam sighed, glancing at
the fire.
Sure enough, Kim was already racing across the sand
towards us. I waited for her to trip and face-plant in the sand, but she made
it to us without incident.
“Bella! Where have you been?” Kim asked, throwing her
arms around me.
“Home, school, Sam’s. That’s about it,” I smiled, hugging
her back.
“You haven’t called me in ages,” Kim pouted.
“Kim, we just talked on Wednesday,” I laughed.
“But that was only for an hour,” Kim argued.
“Yes and you chatted incessantly about Jared and
everything you’d done since Sunday,” I reminded her.
“But then you hung up on me,” Kim whined.
“Because I had to fix dinner for Charlie. I told you
goodbye at least five times,” I pointed out.
“Fine. I forgive you,” Kim sighed dramatically.
“Well, thanks for that, I guess,” I chuckled.
“Come on, I want to hear all about your week. We didn’t
get to talk about that on Wednesday,” Kim insisted, dragging me away from my
wolves and towards the fire.
“Kim, keep close, okay?” Sam requested, his expression
still dark.
“Of course!” Kim trilled.
I gave my wolves a smile as Kim pulled me to the log she
had reserved for the two of us. I settled into the sand, leaning against the
log while she sat on the log, leaning forward to talk easier.
“So, tell me everything,” Kim grinned.
“About what, Kim?” I asked, laughing.
“The sex! Come on, Bella, what else would I mean?” Kim
giggled.
“Of course. I don’t know why I even asked,” I rolled my
eyes good naturedly.
“So, spill,” Kim insisted, giving me a slightly shove.
“Well, I will tell you this. On the way over here, I gave
them both… roadhead,” I whispered, making sure no one of superior hearing was
nearby.
“You didn’t! I can’t believe it! What did they do?” Kim
asked excitedly.
“They were more than a little surprised. I’m so glad you
suggested it, though. Sam had trouble controlling the truck,” I confided in
her.
“Oh, I love it! Man, I wish Jared and I had driven here,”
Kim sulked.
“You’re insane, Kim,” I laughed.
“I think you mean insatiable,” Jared teased, coming to
sit beside her.
“Oh, hush. You know you like it,” Kim winked, nudging
him.
“I haven’t complained yet, have I?” Jared asked, leaning
in to kiss her neck.
Kim rolled her eyes at me, despite the wide grin on her
face. I smiled back at her before turning to search for my wolves. Jake was
standing on the other side of the fire, watching me closely. He gave me a small
smile when our eyes made contact and I sent a small wave his way. Embry and
Quil were talking to him, both laughing at whatever the subject was.
I scanned the rest of the crowd for Sam and found him
wrestling with Brady and Collin. I smiled contently at the way he handled the
younger boys.
The entire pack had raided Sam’s home more and more as
the past three weeks had gone by. They had no reservations about walking right
in and snatching whatever I’d been cooking right off the counter. I had learned
to make large quantities whenever I baked, knowing they would be gone in no
time if the pack came around. It was nice being surrounded by such a loud and
loving family, even if they did get into fights almost every time she saw them.
“So, Bella, will you be staying in La Push again this
weekend?” Jared asked, finally prying his lips away from Kim’s neck.
“Yeah. I think they have a deal with my dad. They don’t
invade our house during the week and I get to spend the weekends here,” I told
them.
“I wouldn’t put it past them to weasel something like
that out of the Chief,” Kim smirked.
“Neither would I,” I said, shaking my head at them.
“Do you think you could make some more of those chocolate
chip squares? They’re amazing,” Jared practically moaned.
“I guess I could. I’ll have to see what Sam has in the
house,” I shrugged.
“I’m sure if you don’t have it, Sam or Jake will go get
it. They dote on you like crazy,” Kim smiled.
“And I don’t dote on you?” Jared asked, squeezing her
closer.
“Of course you do, baby. I’m just saying, Bella gets a
double dose of doting,” Kim giggled.
“Unfortunately, I also get a double dose of every other
emotion,” I sighed, settling further into the sand.
“Oh my God, the sex must be amazing!” Kim squealed.
“Kim!” I laughed, slapping her thigh.
“What? You have two hormone driven wolves! Of course
you’re going to have sex all the time!” Kim insisted.
“Not all the time. They do try to make up for it, though,
on the weekends,” I admitted with a slight grin.
“You’re so lucky, Bella,” Kim hummed.
“Hey! I’m sitting right here. Do I need to take you home
and remind you just how lucky you are?” Jared asked suggestively.
“Oh, yes, please,” Kim grinned, wrapping her arms around
his neck.
I laughed again as Jared growl and tipped her back,
kissing her thoroughly.
“Jeeze, Jared, let the girl breathe,” I scolded.
He pulled Kim back up, setting her straight, before
sauntering away, cocky grin in place.
“Crap, Bella, why’d you stop him?” Kim pouted.
“Oh, you’ll get yours later, I’m sure,” I assured her.
“Yeah, but I could’ve had it sooner,” Kim sighed sadly.
“Jesus, could you be any more of a slut?” Leah grumbled,
plopping down in Jared’s vacated seat.
Kim laughed and bumped their shoulders together.
“Hey, Swan,” Leah nodded.
“Hey, Clearwater,” I nodded back.
“So, do you two ever talk about anything other than sex?”
Leah asked, her tone bored.
“Of course. Bella talks about boring stuff like you. I
just try to steer towards the interesting topics,” Kim smirked.
“How’re patrols going, Leah?” I asked, sensing another
Leah-Kim fight in the making.
For some reason, the two were the best of friends,
despite the fact that they fought every time they were together. Leah couldn’t
stand Kim’s constant talk of sex and Kim hated that Leah was always so grumpy.
Still, they were insanely close and loyal to each other. Kim had once explained
it was all because of her imprint to Jared, that all the wolves were close to
her. I hadn’t understood when she’d first explained, but after spending the
past three weekends with the pack, I knew exactly what she meant.
“Good, I guess. No new leeches, which is a good thing. I
can tell you, most of us are tired of watching the school. We’ve all tried to
convince Sam and Jake it’s safe, but they’re adamant that you be protected at
all times around the bloodsuckers,” Leah informed me with an eye roll.
“I know. I’ve tried to talk to them, too, but they won’t
listen. They’re convinced that the moment you guys stop watching, the Cullens
will attack,” I sighed, shaking my head.
“I wish I could see one of them. Jared’s explained them
to me, but he’s a little biased, being a wolf. And he’s just as protective as
Sam and Jake. He’s forbidden me from going into Forks unescorted,” Kim snorted.
“You can always come visit me and we can wander Forks,
looking for vampires,” I suggested, wiggling my eyebrows.
“Wouldn’t that be fun, though! Even if they did
completely freak out, it would be fun to pretend to be Buffy for a little
while,” Kim laughed.
“Don’t know why you two would want to find one of them.
They smell horrible,” Leah grumbled.
“Only to you, with your superior nose. They smell just
fine to me,” I shrugged.
“Yeah, well, you can somehow stand to be around Sam after
he’s had one of his energy drink binges, so your nose doesn’t exactly work too
well anyway,” Kim said, wrinkling her nose.
“It’s not that bad,” I insisted, laughing lightly.
“Ugh, I don’t know how he drinks those things. They’re
disgusting,” Kim gagged.
“They don’t bother him and it’s better than drinking
beer,” I told her.
“I guess that’s true. At least he doesn’t smell like a
bar,” Kim agreed.
“No, instead he smells like a leech,” Leah snorted.
“Not all the time,” I argued, feeling defensive of my
wolf.
“Easy there, qahla,” Leah eased.
“Why do you call me that?” I asked, still a little put
out at their disrespect to my mate.
“It’s nothing,” Leah said, shaking her head.
“What? What does it mean?” I pushed.
“It means ‘sun’,” Kim answered, giving Leah a curious
look.
“Why would you call me ‘sun’?” I asked, frowning
slightly.
“Because, and if either of you repeat this I’ll kill you…
when Emily left, she took the life out of Sam. He was a man who lived in
darkness most of the time because he couldn’t bear to see her face on his
walls. Then you came and brought the sun back into his life. I thought it
appropriate,” Leah explained, staring right into my eyes.
I stared right back at her, more than a little surprised.
“Look, Bella, Emily may be my cousin, but that doesn’t
mean I like what she did to Sam. In fact, I hate her for it. Sam’s a good man
and he could’ve made her happy if she’d have let him. But, I’m also glad she
left, because it left Sam available for when you got here. If Emily hadn’t have
left and if they’d still been together, it would have been disastrous,” Leah
admitted.
“Wow, Leah. I never knew you felt that way,” Kim frowned.
“Yeah, well, sharing a mind with nine boys kind of makes
showing any kind of emotion difficult,” Leah huffed, rolling her shoulders.
“I can’t imagine. Thank you, Leah, for sharing that with
me,” I murmured, placing my hand on her knee.
“You’re welcome,” Leah nodded.
“I’ll be back,” I said, standing and brushing the sand
off my butt.
“No hurry,” Kim winked.
I smiled back at her, walking over to where Sam was now
standing with Jake, Paul, and Seth. I slipped under Sam’s arm easily, curling
my arm around his waist as the conversation continued above me.
“… think it’s time to draw back. They’re not going to do
anything,” Paul was saying.
“I don’t like the idea. I’ve taken it back to one wolf. I
know it’s difficult, but we all rotate. It’s not like one of us has to always
miss work or school because of it,” Sam frowned.
“It’s ridiculous, Sam. We’re ready for a fight that’s not
going to happen. They haven’t approached her since that first time,” Paul argued.
“I know, but I still don’t trust them,” Sam stated,
scratching at his jaw.
“We don’t have to. They know what’ll happen if they so
much as look at her funny. None of us will let them get away with hurting her,
Sam,” Paul insisted.
“And how will we know when one of them approaches her? It
won’t be until after the fact and they’ll have time to prepare, time which we
won’t have,” Jake put in.
“We can figure out something that doesn’t involve one of
us sitting outside the school every day,” Paul scoffed.
“She could get a cell phone,” Seth offered.
All four of us turned to look at him. He gave me a small
grin and shrugged one shoulder.
“You could. That way, if anything happens, you can text
one of us and we can round up the others and not lose as much time as we would
if we had to wait until after school,” Seth explained.
Jake, Sam, and Paul all started talking at once, arguing
certain points for or against the idea.
“I like it,” I said, ceasing all conversation above me.
Sam squeezed my shoulder a little tighter and Jake was
tense, but it was a good idea.
“It’s a good compromise. I don’t like having one of you
guys outside the school all day, every day. This is the best alternative,” I
insisted.
“Yes, but it’s expensive, Bella. I don’t want you putting
money into something we don’t really need,” Sam frowned.
“I’ll talk to Charlie about it. I’m sure he’ll agree
since I spend so much time away from home these days. It’ll be easier for him
to track me down. I might even be able to talk him into getting one,” I
grinned, warming to the idea.
“It would make it easier on the pack,” Jake admitted
slowly.
“Please, Sam? Let me do this for you and the pack?” I
pleaded.
“Now, that’s not fair. How can I say no when you look at
me like that?” Sam complained.
“You’re not supposed to,” I smirked.
Sam looked up and met Jake’s eyes. They seemed to have a
silent conversation for a few minutes, before Sam looked back down at me with a
heavy sigh.
“Thank you!” I cried, wrapping my arms around his neck
before he could say a single word.
“We’ll try it out for a week. If it anything happens, we
go back to having a wolf outside the school,” Sam insisted.
“You’re amazing, you know that?” I asked, leaning far
enough back to see his face.
“Yeah, well, right now I don’t feel all that amazing,”
Sam grumbled.
“You… are… amazing…” I said, punctuating each word with a
kiss.
“Hey, now. I’m agreeing to this, too. Where’s my kiss?”
Jake pouted.
“Come here, you big puppy,” I laughed, pulling him close.
“You… are… pathetic,” I teased, giving him a kiss after
each word as well.
“Hey! That’s not what I wanted to hear,” Jake frowned.
“I still love you, though,” I added on, snuggling into
his embrace.
“Well, I guess that’s okay then,” Jake sighed in mock
exasperation.
“Good. Now, will you cut with the dramatics and take me
home?” I asked.
“With pleasure,” Jake grinned devilishly, sweeping me
into his arms.
I waved at the pack as Jake and Sam ran off with me
towards my truck. I smiled, settled between my two wolves, as we took off for
Sam’s house, our home.
